Leeds United saw their automatic promotion hopes go up in smoke this weekend as Sheffield United finally confirmed second spot.

The Whites have been right on the coattails of the Blades all season but ultimately fell short despite playing some superb football under new manager Marcelo Bielsa.

However, news this weekend has emerged which could be a big worry for Leeds fans, with the Mail reporting that Bielsa could be on his way out of the club if they do indeed miss out on promotion.

Bielsa has been nothing short of superb since arriving at Elland Road, and we here in the Tavern feel that the club simply cannot afford to lose Bielsa if they are to continue to build towards success.

If they do indeed remain in the Championship, it’s difficult to see anyone else getting the sort of football and results out of this set of players like Bielsa has.

The Argentinian has instilled a belief and way of playing at Elland Road which is something we have not seen from many clubs in the Championship in recent years, and it would of course be a big shame to see Leeds fall short after doing so well.

Bielsa leaving though is a bigger issue than not going up this season, and if he does indeed move away from the club, it’s hard to see Leeds getting back to the top flight any time soon.

Of course, there is plenty of football to be played, but Bielsa is a wanted man now he has brought his reputation and style to the English game, and there’ll be a whole host of clubs looking to bring him in if there is a slight inkling that he will be on the move.
