Manchester United missed out on a golden opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League this evening, after crashing to a 2-1 defeat. It was Sir Alex Ferguson’s first defeat of the season, and the Scot will be hoping that today just represents a blip and not the start of a permanent run of poor form.
